President of the World Bank (WB) Group, David Malpass, highlighted, Thursday in Washington, Morocco’s achievements in the field of renewable energies, noting that the Kingdom is a “major actor” in the energy transition sector.
Malpass stressed, at a press conference held as part of the Spring Meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, that the Kingdom is among the countries engaged in accelerating the deployment of energy.
The President of the international financial institution emphasized that this transition to renewable energy is highly important in light of the persistence of challenges relating to access to electricity.
In this regard, Malpass indicated that almost 800 million people worldwide have no access to electricity, stressing the importance of adopting renewable energies to ensure wider access to electricity.
The Spring 2023 Meetings of the World Bank (WB) Group and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) are underway in Washington until April 16.
This event brings together a range of stakeholders, including public and private sector leaders, central bank governors, ministers, parliamentarians, representatives of civil society organizations, and academic experts, to discuss key global issues, including the global economic situation, poverty reduction, economic development, and aid effectiveness.
