The US State Department’s 2023 Fiscal Transparency Report classified Morocco as one of the countries that meet the minimum requirements of fiscal transparency.
The 2023 Fiscal Transparency Report, which was published on June 28 in Washington, reported that 72 out of 141 countries meet the minimum requirements for tax transparency in 2022, while 69 countries did not meet the minimum requirements for fiscal transparency.
The report is based on an assessment of the transparency of natural resource extraction contracting and licensing procedures and the completeness and reliability of budget documents.
The US State Department’s report also noted that fiscal transparency, as an essential element of efficient public finance management, contributes to strengthening market confidence and supporting economic sustainability.
