US First Lady, Jill Biden, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to His Majesty King Mohammed VI for the warm hospitality extended to her during her visit to Morocco, “one of the United States’ oldest allies.”
“Thank you for the kind welcome to Morocco,” tweeted the First Lady, adding “Shukran bzaf!”, the Moroccan expression for thank you.
The First Lady also stated that “it’s an honor to visit one of the United States’ oldest friends.”
In a statement released by the White House on June 4, Mrs. Biden praised the role of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and the reforms undertaken by the Kingdom to empower women and youth.
“Under His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s leadership, Morocco is encouraging reforms to empower women and youth, reflecting our shared priorities,” noted Mrs. Biden.
In a similar context, the First Lady stated that the US is grateful for its long-standing partnership and friendship with Morocco.
Mrs. Biden also recalled that she was “graciously” welcomed upon her arrival on June 3 by Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Hasnaa.
“As we were getting to know each other, she told me about her work to educate children and young people about the importance of protecting our climate,” said Mrs. Biden, adding that the passion of Her Royal Highness inspired her.
The First Lady expressed her eagerness to take Her Royal Highness’ story back to the US to look for more opportunities to learn from each other, noting that “our world is tied together in immeasurable ways and that common ground is where the foundation of our shared future must be laid.”
The visit of the US First Lady is part of her trip to the Middle East, North Africa, and Europe to promote the conditions of women and youth around the world, particularly in fields relating to education, health, and empowerment.
