The Swedish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Tobias Billström, commended the constant commitment of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to promoting the values of coexistence and inter-religious dialogue.
Spoke during an Iftar organized on April 8 by the Moroccan embassy in Stockholm, Billström noted d that Morocco represents “a unique model of tolerance”, expressing, on this occasion, his joy at participating, once again this year, in this Iftar, which promotes the “authentic values of tolerance and compassion, embodied by Morocco in perfect harmony with its development and modernity”.
Held annually, this Iftar was established as a call for peace and coexistence, bringing together several personalities, notably the Mayor of Danderyd, parliamentarians, ambassadors, and senior officials from the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
On this occasion, Morocco’s Ambassador to Sweden, Karim Medrek, noted in his welcome speech that this “Ftour for Peace” reflects the Kingdom’s thousand-year-old heritage of coexistence and diversity, affirming that even in the most difficult circumstances, Morocco remains an example of living together, thanks to the constant commitment of His Majesty the King.
In a call for action, the Ambassador recalled that “today more than ever, the suffering of people in conflict zones, in this case, that of the Palestinian people, requires attention and solidarity ”.
“The choice of justice and peace should guide our actions, thus reinforcing the importance of working together to end conflicts and promote stability in the region,” he added.
For her part, the Mayor of Danderyds, Hanna Bocander, described Morocco as a bastion of peace, where the values of interreligious and intercultural dialogue are deeply rooted in society.
“Faced with current challenges, the model of mutual respect and peaceful cohabitation advocated by Morocco should serve as an inspiration”, affirmed the Swedish official.
