Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares, praised, on December 15 in Rabat, the coordination between Morocco and Spain on regional issues, describing it as a “real model of regional cooperation in the service of peace, security, and prosperity.”
Following his meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, Albares stated that coordination between the two countries, particularly in the Euro-Mediterranean region, the Sahel, and Africa, has witnessed remarkable progress thanks to the dynamism of the strategic partnership linking Morocco and Spain, supported by the impetus given by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, during his meeting with Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez, on April 7, 2022.
On this occasion, the head of Spanish diplomacy noted that Morocco is an important partner to Spain and an essential actor in developing the Southern Mediterranean region.
In this context, Albares reaffirmed the two countries’ desire to further strengthen cooperation on regional issues, particularly at the Sahel level, to face multiple challenges, stressing that cooperation between Morocco and Spain constitutes an example to follow in the region to achieve peace, stability, and development.
The Spanish minister also praised the initiatives launched by Morocco in Africa to support the continent’s human and economic development, adding that this illustrates the Kingdom’s attachment to regional economic integration.
On a similar note, the two foreign ministers stressed the need to explore new areas of cooperation to establish innovative and strategic partnerships, which will be launched, within the framework of the Royal Vision, both in Morocco and Africa as a whole.
Speaking about the situation in Gaza, Bourita and Albares reiterated their countries’ commitment to continue their efforts and close coordination with all partners, for an international mobilization for a lasting ceasefire to stop hostilities in Gaza, protect civilians, and achieve peace, stability, and prosperity for all people in the region.
The two ministers emphasized the importance of strengthening consultations to contribute actively and effectively to the efforts of the international community, in favor of the creation of an independent Palestinian state with East Al Quds as its capital, coexisting with Israel, in peace and security, and within the two-state solution.
