The Minister of Transport and Logistics, Mohammed Abdeljalil, said on December 25 in Rabat, that the 2023-2037 contract program between the government and Royal Air Maroc (RAM) will connect Mohammed V Airport to several new destinations.
Responding to an oral question by the National Rally of Independents (RNI) on the cancellation of flights to certain European countries, the minister indicated that within the framework of this program, the canceled routes would witness a gradual restoration, specifying that 33 European destinations are currently connected to Moroccan cities, while there were 43 before the Covid-19 crisis.
It is to be noted that the cancellation by RAM of air connections to several cities during the Covid-19 crisis followed the adaptation of its commercial offer during the pandemic which had serious repercussions on the air transport sector globally.
In this regard, the minister affirmed that like all tourist destinations, the open skies agreement with the European Union (EU) makes it possible to connect Moroccan and European cities through direct lines.
The contract program will also allow RAM to rise to the rank of major airlines on a global and regional scale by increasing its fleet from 50 aircraft to 200 aircraft in 2037, with the aim of transforming Casablanca into the most important hub on the African continent.
