A two-day meeting to review the Program of Action of an Atlantic African Partnership kicked off, Tuesday in Rabat, in the presence of senior officials.
This document is a roadmap to guide the collaborative actions of the countries committed to this African partnership in order to face common challenges and boost their cooperation prospects.
This African Atlantic Partnership comes to implement the Wise Vision of His Majesty King Mohammed 6th, aimed at creating a space where peace, stability, and shared prosperity prevail, which was re-launched by a Ministerial Meeting of the countries concerned, held in Rabat on June 8, 2022.
The Rabat Declaration, adopted following the June 8th meeting, defined three strategic priorities for joint action, notably, political and security cooperation in countering terrorism, transnational organized crime and maritime piracy, blue economy, energy and maritime connectivity, and sustainable development.
This meeting takes place following the Rabat Declaration’s recommendations, which were approved by the Ministerial Meeting of Atlantic African States that was chaired by Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita. On this occasion, Bourita stressed that the international context has rarely been as complex as today to reinforce the relevance of this Initiative launched by the Kingdom.
The Permanent Secretariat of this partnership, run by Morocco, oversees these consultations, bringing together senior officials from several countries, with the aim of identifying areas of common interest requiring joint action for the consolidation of partnership and cooperation ties between the Atlantic African States.
These discussions will result in a document acting as a Program of Action which will be submitted for approval during this alliance’s next ministerial meeting scheduled to be held in Morocco.
