The president of the Committee for Foreign Affairs, National Defense, Islamic Affairs, and Moroccan Expatriates in the House of Councilors, Naila Mia Tazi, held a meeting, Wednesday in Rabat, with Australia’s ambassador to Morocco, Michael Cutts.
The House of Councilors reported in a statement that this meeting was an opportunity for the two parties to highlight the strong bilateral relations between Morocco and Australia and the available opportunities to strengthen these relations in several fields.
During this meeting, Tazi emphasized the need to create a diversified economic dynamic, highlighting the role of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises in supporting this dynamic.
Tazi also presented an overview of the composition of the House of Councillors and its prerogatives, stressing the need to strengthen the role of the Morocco-Australia parliamentary friendship group, in view of its importance in narrowing the gap between the views of the different actors from the two countries, and strengthening cooperation in the economic, commercial, agricultural and environmental fields.
The President of the Committee suggested, in this regard, the creation of an exchange of visits program between the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Councilors and its counterpart of the Australian Senate, with the aim of exchanging expertise, further calling for the development of multidimensional partnerships at the level of culture and heritage between the two countries to strengthen relations between the Moroccan and Australian peoples.
For his part, Cutts praised the bilateral relations between the two countries as well as their historical significance, expressing his desire to develop these relations in several fields.
The Australian Ambassador further commended the positive results of cooperation in the agricultural and technical fields between the two countries, stressing the need to take advantage of all the available opportunities and assets to strengthen partnership in aerial transport and boost tourism.
The two parties further emphasized the need to increase efforts to seize all available opportunities in order to strengthen partnership between the two fraternal countries, while stressing the importance of the parliamentary aspect in enhancing bilateral relations through the exchange of visits and expertise.
