The Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT) and Transavia, a subsidiary of the Air France-KLM group, pledged to strengthen their partnership through a significant increase in air services from France starting the 2023 winter season.
This partnership includes the resumption of the Paris-Dakhla air route, which was launched in 2018 but suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Transavia, with ONMT’s support, will go beyond resuming this route to doubling the number of weekly flights, which will be operated on Mondays and Fridays to promote four-day weekend getaways.
The inaugural flight arrived on October 30 at 1 p.m., with Transavia’s CEO, Olivier Mazzucchelli, on board. Upon his arrival, Mazzucchelli was greeted on the tarmac of Dakhla Oued Eddahab Airport by ONMT Managing Director, Adel El Fakir, and representatives of the Dakhla Regional Tourism Board.
Transavia has also launched a new direct route linking Errachidia and Paris, with one flight per week on Sundays. The agreement also aims to strengthen services to Marrakech from the province, with the inauguration of new direct routes from Rennes to Marrakech and Brest to Marrakech.
This new partnership between ONMT and Transavia will provide 252,315 seats to Morocco from France during the 2023-2024 winter season, representing a significant 30% increase in comparison with the 2022-2023 winter season offer. In addition to the air routes operated via this new partnership, Transavia will provide 206,199 seats, boosting overall capacity to 458,514 seats.
