Local authorities announced on Sunday that the toll of the armed attack on a church in southwestern Nigeria is likely to rise to at least 50 people, including children.
“At least 50 people were killed in the attack,” said Adelegbe Timileyin, representative of the state’s Owo region in the lower house of parliament.
Videos circulating on social media show the bloodied bodies of the victims in the church, and people crying around them.
Authorities have yet to announce an official death toll, and the perpetrators of the church attack have yet to be identified.
