President of the Foreign Affairs, National Defense, Islamic Affairs and Moroccan Expatriates Committee at the House of Councilors, Naila Mia Tazi, held a meeting on Tuesday with the Regional Director of the UNESCO office for the Maghreb, Eric Falt.
The House of Councilors released a statement reporting that during this meeting, the two parties affirmed their commitment to further strengthening and expanding their partnership in several fields by supporting initiatives and consolidating exchanges on numerous programs aimed at training and safeguarding traditional knowledge and regional specificities.
The two parties also welcomed the patronage that His Majesty King Mohammed VI accords to the promotion of arts, culture, creativity, and heritage, as emphasized by the Sovereign in His message to the participants in the 17th session of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, held in Rabat in November 2022.
On this occasion, Tazi praised the multiple programs launched by UNESCO to protect and preserve tangible and intangible heritage in all its forms internationally, and the United Nations (UN) international agenda to preserve civilizational, cultural, and international aspects.
Tazi also called on Falt to seize this opportunity to strengthen the partnership and cooperation in order to promote Morocco’s heritage and ancestral culture and to implement numerous new programs designed to contribute to the promotion of Moroccan identity.
In a similar context, Tazi reviewed the missions of the House of Councilors, its structure, its constitutional roles, and the initiatives undertaken to improve the socio-economic conditions of citizens and generate more job opportunities.
For his part, Falt praised the Kingdom’s dynamics at the cultural level, commending the efforts undertaken to protect the country’s tangible and intangible heritage, which contributes to the promotion of Moroccan values and the development of Moroccan expertise in these areas.
