Malawian Foreign Minister Nancy Tembo stated that African countries must learn from Morocco’s progress in different areas to promote development.
Speaking at a meeting to commemorate Africa Day, organized by the Kingdom’s Embassy in Lilongwe in collaboration with the African Union (AU), Tembo noted that investing in quality education for all constitutes a sine qua none condition for ensuring the development and integration of Africa”.
In this regard, the Malawian official affirmed that the event was an opportunity to reflect on the future of Africa, stressing that access to digitalization and new communication technologies is vital to ensure better education for future generations and strengthen the competitiveness of the African market.
The minister also emphasized the importance of joint African action to fully take advantage of the continent’s potential.
For his part, the Kingdom’s Chargé d’Affaires in Lilongwe, Abdelkader Naji, indicated that Africa Day is an opportunity to celebrate the continent’s diversity and shed light on the progress achieved in terms of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
“With a spirit of deep determination and strong commitment, Morocco continues to invest efforts to build the Africa we want,” stated Naji, recalling that the Kingdom, under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty the King Mohammed VI has made Africa a top priority of its foreign policy, based on long-standing relations with many brotherly African countries.
In a similar context, the Moroccan diplomat shed light on the construction of the port of Dakhla which will serve as a hub and bridge between Africa, America, and Europe, revealing that Morocco has signed more than 1,500 cooperation agreements linking the Kingdom to more than 80% of African countries, covering areas relating to higher education, training, health, infrastructure, renewable energies, sanitation and drinking water.
“Morocco’s commitment to education is not only national but also continental”, he explained, adding that the Kingdom has created several programs to promote the exchange of knowledge and expertise, and invested in strengthening educational infrastructure, thus becoming a destination of choice for African students.
