Morocco, under the Leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah assist Him, Chairman of Al-Quds Committee, reiterated “its deep concern and indignation” at the resurgence of military action and the worsening humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates noted in a press release that after over three weeks since the outbreak of military confrontations, civilians are still being targeted, resulting in thousands of victims among children and women and tens of thousands of wounded, homeless, and missing, adding that places of worship, hospitals, and refugee camps are still being bombarded, the latest being the Jabalia refugee camp.
The Ministry added that missiles and shells are also being fired at random against civilian installations, forcing over a million people to flee and depriving the population of water, electricity, and fuel, thus resulting in a catastrophic humanitarian situation.
According to the same source, Morocco affirms that all these Israeli acts of escalation are in contradiction with international humanitarian law and common human values, and serve as a warning of a spread of violence within the Palestinian territories and a dangerous expansion of the scope of violence to affect neighboring areas, which threatens the security and stability of the entire region.
The Ministry also expressed Morocco’s regret and disappointment at the inaction of the international community, the failure of the Security Council to assume its responsibilities, and the inability of influential countries to end this catastrophic situation.
While reiterating its support for the Palestinian National Authority and its national institutions, under the leadership of H.E. President Mahmoud Abbas, the Moroccan Ministry concluded that the Kingdom, under the Leadership of His Majesty the King, may Allah preserve Him, calls for a de-escalation leading to a ceasefire and the opening of humanitarian corridors to facilitate the rapid entry of aid and the release of prisoners and detainees, with the need to establish a political perspective regarding the Palestinian cause, enabling the two-state solution to be relaunched, as agreed by the international community.
