The 14th Conference of Presidents of Assemblies and Sections of the African Regional Assembly of the Francophone Parliamentary Assembly (APF) kicked off Monday, in Abidjan, with the participation of a high-level Moroccan delegation.
The Moroccan delegation, led by Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hassan Benomar, includes President of the National Rally of Independents (RNI) group, Mohamed Ghiat, Member of the National Rally of Independents (RNI) group, Ouallal Hossein, President of the Public Finance Control Committee and member of the Authenticity and Modernity (PAM) group, Latifa Lablih, and member of the Istiqlal Party (PI) Unity and Egalitarianism group, Chafik Hachim-Amine.
This important international event, held between April 3 and 4 in Côte d’Ivoire, is an opportunity for representatives of member parliaments to meet, consult, exchange and open up broad horizons for dialogue aimed at strengthening parliamentary relations and efforts in the Francophone region.
Participants in this Conference will discuss several key issues, including the political and social situation in French-speaking African countries and the political crises in some countries, namely Burkina Faso, Guinea, Mali, Chad, and Tunisia.
Other issues are also on the Conference’s agenda, namely “the challenges of democratic governance and security in Francophone Africa”, “food security in the face of political and socio-economic crises” and “the protection of forest ecosystems and the fight against desertification in Africa: reflections on public policies and parliamentary initiatives of the past ten years”.
This Conference will also address the absence of certain African sections from the proceedings of the African Regional Assembly of the Francophone Parliamentary Assembly and will set a date for the 15th Conference of Presidents of Assemblies and Sections.
On the sidelines of this Conference, the Moroccan delegation is scheduled to hold talks with other delegations partaking in this session with the aim of strengthening bilateral and multilateral parliamentary cooperation.
