Marrakech hosted, on September 7, the 19th Arab Conference of Heads of Civil Protection Organizations, organized under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
According to a press release from the General Directorate of Civil Protection, the Conference, which will be held at Mohammed VI Museum for the Civilization of Water, will be attended by presidents and representatives of civil protection organizations in Arab countries, the Arab League (AL), Nayef University of Security Sciences (NAUSS), and the General Secretariat of the Arab Interior Ministers Council.
Participants will discuss different topics, including ways to face the new dangers of environmental pollution, new developments, and changes in the missions of Arab civil protection organizations, the establishment of an electronic portal for Arab civil protection organizations, and a coordination center for operational cooperation between civil protection organizations in Arab countries, as part of the fight against major accidents and disasters.
The same source added that the conference will also discuss the results of the commission meeting, which was held on September 6, to examine the integration of the Arab convention on cooperation in the fields of search and rescue, with the draft convention on cooperation between Arab civil protection organizations.
The same source concluded that the General Secretariat will also present the recommendations of this conference to the next meeting of the Arab Interior Ministers Council, “to take the necessary decision.”
