Spanish newspaper “El País” stated, on August 27, that since His Majesty King Mohammed VI acceded to the throne of His glorious Ancestors, Morocco has strengthened its “diplomatic advances” in favor of its stance on the Moroccan Sahara issue.
El País stated that these “diplomatic advances” are reflected in the US and Israel’s recognition of the Moroccanity of the Sahara and the “support” given by Spain, which considers the Moroccan Autonomy Plan, presented in 2007, “the most serious, realistic, and credible basis” for resolving this artificial dispute.
The Spanish daily emphasized that “up to date, twenty-eight African, Arab, and Latin American countries have opened consulates in Laâyoune or Dakhla, in recognition” of Morocco’s sovereignty over its southern provinces.
In addition to the political aspect, El País shed light on the reforms and projects launched by the Sovereign since 1999, which have resulted in the modernization of several infrastructures such as the motorway network, the Tangier-Casablanca high-speed train and the Tangier Med port, as well as the development of cutting-edge industrial sectors such as the automotive industry, and the expansion of Moroccan companies in the banking, insurance, and telecommunications sectors to other African countries.
The Spanish newspaper also pointed out that under His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s Leadership, Morocco has launched a plan to extend social protection to twenty-two million people.
