Sierra Leone’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Timothy Musa Kabba, reiterated, on September 4 in Rabat, his country’s unwavering support for Morocco’s territorial integrity and the Moroccan Autonomy Plan as the only basis for resolving the regional conflict over the Moroccan Sahara.
During a press briefing following his talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, Musa Kabba reaffirmed Sierra Leone’s “unwavering support” for the Kingdom’s territorial integrity and the Moroccanity of the Sahara.
Musa Kabba stressed the importance of the Moroccan Autonomy Plan as the only basis for resolving this artificial dispute, reiterating his country’s full support for the role played by the United Nations (UN) as the “exclusive framework” for achieving a lasting solution to the Moroccan Sahara conflict.
The Sierra Leonean minister also praised the growing international support for Morocco’s territorial integrity, recalling Sierra Leone’s opening of a consulate general in Dakhla, in August 2021.
On the topic of bilateral relations, Musa Kabba affirmed that Morocco and Sierra Leone are determined to implement the thirteen agreements signed and the decisions adopted following the last Joint Cooperation Commission, which was held in Dakhla on April 28.
Sierra Leone’s foreign minister also added that relations between his country and Morocco have developed substantially in several fields under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and Sierra Leone’s President, His Excellency Julius Maada Bio, who thanked Morocco for its support of his country’s bid for a non-permanent seat in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for the period 2024/2025.
The meeting was attended by Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Morocco, H.E. Atumannu Dainkeh, and the Consul General in Dakhla, Zainab Kande.
