The Moroccan para-cycling selection has booked its ticket to the Paris-2024 Paralympic Games, after a season rich in achievements by the Moroccan champions, particularly Haitam Al Amraoui and Mohamed Bouchfar, who were crowned African champions in Accra.
According to the Royal Moroccan Cycling Federation (FRMC), Haitam Al Amraoui, who competes for the Beauséjour cycling club, won the gold medal in the road race at the African Championships last February, while Mohamed Bouchfar (COD Meknes) won the gold medal in the individual time trial during the same competition.
FRMC added that the qualification for the Paris-2024 Paralympic Games comes shortly after Morocco ranked 7th in the world and competed in the World Championships in Glasgow (August 5-13).
In the latest International Cycling Union (UCI) rankings published in mid-October, Moroccan cyclists Haitam Al Amraoui and Mohamed Bouchfar ranked 10th and 16th respectively in the world para-cycling rankings.
In addition to Morocco, Africa will be represented at the 2024 Paralympic Games by Kenya, South Africa, and Ghana.
