The Ministry of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment, and Skills announced the establishment of a monitoring cell in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates and the National Agency for the Promotion of Employment and Skills, following the passing of a Moroccan seasonal agricultural worker in the overturn of a bus in Huelva, Spain.
In a statement released Monday, the Ministry explained that this cell aims to uncover the details of the accident, contact the families of the victims and follow the law in the host country under the agreements in force between Morocco and Spain, adding that it learned with “deep sadness” the news of the passing of the Moroccan seasonal worker and the injury of other workers, following the overturn of a bus in the Spanish municipality of Almonte.
In this regard, the Ministry assured that all the injured were evacuated to hospitals in Huelva and Seville, where the Consulate General of Morocco in Seville and the Spanish authorities were immediately mobilized.
The statement further added that preliminary data indicates that “the accident was caused by poor visibility due to dense fog,” noting that the Ministry is supporting the victims and their families and is closely monitoring the incident.
