CEO of the Millenium Challenge Corporation (MCC), Alice Albright, praised Thursday in Rabat, “the close partnership” with Morocco in the framework of Compacts I and II of the Millenium Challenge Account (MCA).
“We have longstanding relations with Morocco and we have worked with the Kingdom more than with almost any other country,” stated Albright following her meeting with Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, on the sidelines of the closing ceremony of the Millennium Challenge Account (MCA)-Morocco Compact II program.
Albright highlighted, in this regard, the support provided by the Corporation under the two cooperation programs (Compact), the first of which (Compact I) mainly focused on the fields of agriculture and fisheries, while the second one (Compact II) covered education and land, through formal and vocational training, to improve the sustainability of rural areas and the allocation of titles to collective land.
The Corporation’s CEO further explained that the Millenium Challenge Account (MCA)-Morocco program is a large-scale impactful program that aims to help over 2 million Moroccans, expressing noting the Corporation’s commitment to maintaining close contact with Morocco.
For his part, Akhannouch welcomed the investment opportunities that Compact I and Compact II generated, noting that the second program focused on the fields of continuous educational training and land.
“This program is a successful model that achieved important results,” stated Akhannouch, noting that the Compact programs will pave the way for new cooperation prospects between Morocco and the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).
The Compact II of the Millennium Challenge Account (MCA)-Morocco program, launched in 2017, will conclude on March 31, in accordance with the provisions of the agreement with Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).
Within this framework, a decree-law has been issued on the dissolution and liquidation of the Millenium Challenge Account (MCA)-Morroco Agency, under the provisions of the law on the creation of the agency. The agency’s liquidation operation will be completed by July 29.
