Masdar Energy, an Emirati company renowned for its investments in renewable energies and sustainable technologies in the Middle East, is preparing to launch its first project in Morocco.
Centered on the treatment and recovery of plastic waste, this pioneering industrial project has a budget of over MAD 100 million and will generate over 200 direct and indirect jobs in the Rabat region.
Masdar Energy’s primary focus to date has been on green electricity generation, either independently or in collaboration with other operators in the field. Particularly, the Emirati company participated in the Noor Midelt Phase I project, in partnership with EDF Renewables and Moroccan company Green of Africa, with an overall installed capacity of 800 MW.
This project was awarded to Masdar by the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE) for its design, financing, construction, operation, and maintenance.
Although the current project in Morocco is smaller in scale than Masdar’s original ambitions, it remains a milestone for the company in the Moroccan market and reflects the Kingdom’s growing interest in renewable energies and sustainability.
