Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi Alami, and British Minister of State for the Middle East and North Africa, South Asia, and the United Nations (UN), Lord Tariq Ahmad of Wimbledon, held talks, on July 12 in London, on ways to strengthen Moroccan-British relations.
During this meeting, Talbi Alami and Lord Ahmad praised the historic friendly and bilateral ties uniting Morocco and the UK and the current dynamic of bilateral relations.
The Moroccan and British parliamentarians discussed ways of strengthening parliamentary cooperation between the Moroccan and British legislative institutions, stressing the role of parliaments in promoting democracy, peace, and security.
The meeting, which was also attended by Morocco’s Ambassador to the UK, Hakim Hajoui, was also an opportunity to discuss several regional and international issues of mutual interest.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives was on a working visit to the UK (July 11-13), during which he held talks with the Speaker of the House of Commons, Lindsay Hoyle, and the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, Stephen Twigg.
These meetings were an opportunity to discuss ways to strengthen coordination within regional and international parliamentary organizations, promote the exchange of expertise at both political and administrative levels, publicize the strategic projects launched by Morocco, and showcase the Kingdom’s institutional expertise.
