President of the International Society of Precision Agriculture (ISPA), Dr. John Fulton, emphasized the importance of digitizing agriculture globally, including small landowners in Africa, underlining the importance of efficiency in attaining this objective.
In an exclusive interview with Morocco Times TV during the inaugural edition of GITEX Africa, the President of the International Society of Precision Agriculture (ISPA) explained that his institution aims to utilize technology, such as artificial intelligence (AI) and automation, to grow food and fiber and employ them in the agricultural field.
“Each hectare or less becomes its own management. We are going to be as efficient and the most productive that we are keen on each and every hectare or less that we are trying to manage,” added Dr. Fulton.
In a similar context, Dr. Fulton highlighted that the International Society of Precision Agriculture aims to find digital solutions to several issues related to the agricultural field, particularly in what concerns the management of nutrients, the application of nutrients to crop uptake, and water quality and quantity.
ISPA President also praised Morocco’s promising cooperation opportunities which are advancing at a fast pace, noting that the Kingdom is a leader in several fields.
“It’s exciting to see some of the technologies that are being evaluated and researched today, and thinking about how that can be an advantage to the Moroccan farmer in the near future,” concluded Dr. Fulton.
The President of the International Society of Precision Agriculture (ISPA) took part in the first edition of GITEX Africa, which was held in Marrakech between May 31 and June 2, to promote and encourage the use of technology in agriculture.
On this occasion, Dr. Fulton delivered a presentation entitled “Evolving from Precision to Digital Agriculture” as part of the Tech Talks organized on the sidelines of GITEX Africa.
Held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, GITEX Africa is hosted by the Digital Development Agency (ADD), under the authority of the Moroccan Ministry of Digital Transition and Administration Reform.
With over 100 participating government entities from 80 countries, this inaugural edition is the catalyst of multiple investment pledges and public-private partnership announcements spearheading the acceleration of Africa’s digital transformation initiatives.
Africa’s showpiece tech event is affiliated with GITEX Global in Dubai, UAE, the world’s largest tech and start-up show, rated by tech executives as the world’s best global tech event.
