A High Seas Patroller of the Royal Navy unit intercepted, on April 17, two canoes during two separate operations, around fifty kilometers northeast of Laâyoune, with 131 Sub-Saharan Africans on board, including 27 women and 8 minors seeking irregular migration.
According to a press release from the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR), the rescued individuals received first aid on board, before being transported to the Port of Laâyoune and entrusted to the Royal Gendarmerie for the standard administrative procedures.
