A combat unit of the Royal Navy intercepted on April 14 two boats, 22 km and 19 km southwest of Tarfaya respectively, with 118 candidates for irregular migration on board including 9 women and 3 minors.
According to a press release from the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR), these candidates, who are of sub-Saharan and Asian origin, were intending to reach the Canary Islands
The rescued individuals received the necessary aid on board, before being entrusted to the Royal Gendarmerie for the standard administrative procedures.
