The Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, participated on October 25 in Brussels in the “Global Gateway” Forum.
On the sidelines of this Forum, Minister Akhannouch held talks with the President of the European Commission (EC), Ursula Von Der Leyen, and seized this opportunity to reaffirm Morocco’s commitment to strengthening the multi-faceted strategic partnership with the European Union (EU), particularly in the current global context.
Organized by the European Union (EU), on October 25 and 26, the “Global Gateway” Forum brought together leaders from around the world to discuss issues focusing on sustainable investment, the challenges facing the public and private sectors, and best practices.
Participants in the event discussed green energy transition and green hydrogen, education and research, critical raw materials, transportation corridors, healthcare manufacturing, digital infrastructure, and several other topics.
On the sidelines of the Global Gateway Forum, the Head of Government, accompanied by Minister Bourita, held a meeting with the President of the European Council (EC), Charles Michel, on the new European Union’s (EU) agenda for the Mediterranean region and the resulting economic and investment strategy, both of which align with the Kingdom’s priorities under the Enlightened Leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
Akhannouch also held talks with the European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement, Oliver Varhelyi, on the implementation of the Joint Political Declaration, adopted in June 2019, which established the “Euro-Moroccan Partnership for Shared Prosperity”, and highlighted the ongoing dynamic of relations uniting Morocco and the European Union (EU).
