His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, accompanied by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid, and His Highness Prince Moulay Ismail, chaired on Monday evening at Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca, a religious vigil to commemorate Laylat al-Qadr.
Following the prayers of Isha and Taraweeh, winner of Mohammed VI National Prize for memorization, declamation, and psalmody of the Holy Quran, 11-year-old Hajar Al Mourabit from Tetouan, recited verses of the Holy Quran, and later greeted His Majesty the King who presented her with a prize.
This award testifies to His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s High Solicitude for the reciters of the Quran and His Majesty’s desire to promote the memorization and learning of the Holy Quran among younger generations.
The Alem of the Republic of India, Bahae Eddine Mohamed Jamal Eddine Ennadoui, then delivered a speech addressing the Sovereign on behalf of the Ulemas who participated in the religious lectures of Ramadan 1444. The Indian Alem expressed, in his speech, his sincere thanks and gratitude to His Majesty the King for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to them throughout their stay in the Kingdom.
The Indian Alem emphasized that the religious lectures bring together each year prominent Ulemas to discuss multiple issues relevant to the Islamic Ummah and humanity as a whole, noting that His Majesty King Mohammed VI is carrying out the work of His Glorious Ancestors, the late His Majesty King Mohammed V who had established the bonds of friendship and harmony, and the late His Majesty King Hassan II who had laid the groundwork for the development of a modern Morocco
This religious evening was marked by the closing of Sahih Al-Bukhari, presented by member of the local council of the Ulemas of the prefecture of Ben M’sik, Belkacem El Kassimi, after a reading of “Hadith Al Khatm”, by member of the local council of the Oulemas of the prefecture of Ain Chok districts, Fqih Hassan Saber.
On this occasion, the Sovereign awarded Mohammed VI Prize of “Ahl al-Qur’an” and “Ahl al-Hadith”, to Abderrahim Naboulsi of Marrakech, and to Mohamed Benkirane of Ksar el-Kebir respectively.
His Majesty the King, Commander of the Faithful, also awarded Mohammed VI Prize for Quranic schools in its three categories to Mohamed Chakir of Ouarzazate (Prize for learning methodology), Mohamed Boulis of Larache (Prize for performance), and Mohamed Zaânouni of Tiznit (Prize for management).
The Sovereign also awarded Mohammed VI Prize for the Adhan and Tahlil, established upon the High Instructions of His Majesty the King, Commander of the Faithful, in its two categories, to Youssef Ennaji of Mohammedia (Prize for Excellence) and Mohamed El Hedar of Nador (Honorary Award) respectively.
Towards the end of this religious evening, the audience implored Allah to preserve the Sovereign, to crown His initiatives with success, to bless his steps, to realize the aspirations that the Sovereign nourishes for the progress of His faithful people and to fulfill Him in the person of Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, Prince Moulay Rachid and all the members of the illustrious Royal Family.
The audience also prayed for the eternal rest of the Father of the Nation, the late His Majesty King Mohammed V and the late His Majesty King Hassan II, may Allah surround Them with His Holy mercy.
This religious evening was attended by Head of the Government, Aziz Akhannouch, Speakers of the two Houses of Parliament, Rachid Talbi Alami and Enaam Mayara, Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Toufiq, His Majesty’s Advisors, and several other officials from the Government and the Royal Armed Forces.
The evening was also marked by the presence of representatives of the diplomatic corps of Islamic countries accredited to Morocco, the Ulemas who participated in the religious lectures of the holy month of Ramadan, presidents of local Councils of Ulemas, elected officials, as well as civilian and military figures.
