Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, received Thursday in Rabat, the CEO of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), Alice Albright, who is on a visit to Morocco on the occasion of the closure of Compact II of the Millennium Challenge Account (MCA)-Morocco program, which was co-chaired by the Head of Government and the CEO of the Millennium Challenge Corporation.
During this meeting, the Head of Government expressed his appreciation to the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) and the US government for the development support that they provide to Morocco, which allowed the Kingdom to benefit from two cooperation programs, namely compacts I and II.
Akhannouch also affirmed Morocco’s commitment to strengthening this partnership and consolidating it by focusing on the achievements, innovative approaches, and good practices implemented in the framework of these two compacts.
In this regard, the Head of Government stressed that the Compact II is a consecration of the strategic partnership between Morocco and the US, as a tool for development that combines investments in infrastructure upgrades in strategic sectors in Morocco, with institutional and structural reforms to which Morocco is committed, under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
The closing ceremony of Compact II of the Millennium Challenge Account (MCA)-Morocco program was an opportunity to reflect on the important achievements of this program, which was allocated 460 million dollars by the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), in addition to a contribution by the Moroccan government of over 120 million dollars.
Compact II of the Millennium Challenge Account (MCA)-Morocco program, launched in 2017, will conclude on March 31, in accordance with the provisions of the agreement with Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).
Within this framework, a decree-law has been issued on the dissolution and liquidation of the Millenium Challenge Account (MCA)-Morroco Agency, under the provisions of the law on the creation of the agency. The agency’s liquidation operation will be completed by July 29.
