The German Minister of the Interior and Territory, Nancy Faeser, described Morocco as a major political player in the region and a key partner of the European Union (EU).
During a press conference held following her meeting with the Minister of Interior, Abdelouafi Laftit, Faeser emphasized the importance of giving new impetus to Morocco-Germany relations and further strengthening them in different fields.
The German official recalled the long-standing cooperation between the two ministries, particularly in security and countering terrorism and organized crime, expressing her will to expand this cooperation to other areas, such as civil protection and digitalization.
The German official also noted that migration is a crucial area of cooperation between the two countries, since both Germany and Morocco are not only host countries but also transit ones, stressing the need to strengthen the means of legal migration to prevent irregular routes.
