The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, affirmed, on February 27 in Geneva, that Morocco’s presidency of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) is committed to achieving its objectives.
“Equipped with its achievements at the national level and in accordance with its international commitments, the Moroccan presidency of the Human Rights Council will be committed with the same principles, values, and working methods which characterize Moroccan diplomacy, under the High Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, namely credibility in action, dynamism in performance, innovation in methods and the quest for constructive consensus to achieve the noble objectives for which this body was created,” explained Bourita in his speech on the sidelines of the high-level meeting of the 55th session of the Human Rights Council which is currently chaired by Morocco.
In this regard, the Morcco diplomat noted that this election is an international recognition of the Kingdom’s firm commitment, in accordance with the High Directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, in favor of the promotion of human rights at the national, regional, and international levels.
In the same context, Bourita highlighted Morocco’s significant progress in the establishment of an integrated human rights system, thanks to the far-sighted Vision of His Majesty the King, through the implementation of several initiatives, such as the Family Code reform, the national human development initiative, the development model of the southern provinces, the new development model and the generalization of social protection.
It should be noted that Minister Nasser Bourita represents Morocco at the 55th session of the Human Rights Council, held under the Kingdom’s presidency in the person of Morocco’s Permanent Representative in Geneva, Ambassador Omar Zniber.
