The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, affirmed that Morocco, under the Leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah assist Him, is committed to achieving peace, stability, prosperity, and progress for all people, emphasizing the Kingdom’s readiness to engage in an international mobilization to end the tragic situation in Gaza.
Intervening at the “Summit for Peace”, Minister Bourita stressed that Morocco, under the Leadership of His Majesty the King, in his capacity as Chairman of Al Quds Committee, hopes that this summit would be a platform to convey five key messages to the international community.
The Moroccan minister stated that the first message is a call to reduce escalation, stop the bloodshed and military aggression, and spare the region from the horrors of a conflict that risks destroying any remaining chances for peace and stability.
According to Minister Bourita, the second message bears on the urgent need to protect civilians and prevent their targeting, in accordance with the principles of International Law, International Humanitarian Law, and common human values. The third one sheds light on the obligation of facilitating the smooth delivery of humanitarian aid to the citizens of the Gaza Strip, in a rapid and fluid manner, and in sufficient quantity.
The fourth message calls for a condemnation of all solutions and ideologies aimed at displacing or deporting Palestinians from their territory and endangering the neighboring countries’ security, while the fifth message focuses on the importance of launching a peace process within the framework of the two-state solution, with a Palestinian state within the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Al-Quds as its capital, coexisting side by side with the State of Israel.
The “Summit for Peace” took place on October 21 in the new Egyptian administrative capital, and brought together 30 countries, the United Nations (UN), and three regional organizations, in a joint effort to limit further escalation in Gaza, protect civilians, and allow the entry of humanitarian aid.
