The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, affirmed that the meeting he held on January 30 in Rabat, with the Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security at the American Department of State, Bonnie Jenkins, is part of the Moroccan-American coordination on matters of security and stability, particularly in Africa.
In a statement to the press following his meeting with the American official, Bourita revealed that Marrakech will host an important meeting focusing on the fight against trafficking in weapons of mass destruction in Africa and their use by separatist and terrorist groups.
The Head of Moroccan diplomacy added that the meeting will also focus on ways to counter terrorism, reiterating in this regard Morocco’s condemnation of the terrorist attack perpetrated against a site on the Jordanian-Syrian borders, resulting in three casualties and several injuries among American soldiers.
After presenting Morocco’s condolences to the United States, Bourita assured that “these terrorist attacks can only be rejected and vigorously denounced,” expressing the Kingdom’s full and constant solidarity with Jordan.
