FM Nasser Bourita Holds Talks with Ethiopian, Malawian Counterparts

Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, held meetings on July 13 in Nairobi, with his Ethiopian and Malawian counterparts.

On the sidelines of the 43rd Ordinary Session of the Executive Council of the African Union (AU), Bourita discussed with Ethiopia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Demeke Mekonnen Hassen, ways of developing bilateral relations in several fields.

The Moroccan minister also held talks with Malawian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nancy Tembo, during which the two parties reviewed bilateral cooperation ties and examined the prospects for strengthening these ties.

The 43rd Ordinary Session of the Executive Council of the African Union (AU) is devoted to examining the report of the 46th ordinary session of the Permanent Representatives Committee (PRC) and the report of the Secretariat of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) on the implementation of the Area and this year’s theme: “Year of AfCFTA: Acceleration of the African Continental Free Trade Area Implementation.”

The meeting also examines the reports of the Executive Council and ad hoc committees, AU’s partnership strategy and policy framework, and issues relating to the environment, climate change, and the blue economy, particularly the challenges and prospects for integration in Africa.

The 43rd Session is also an opportunity to examine the subject of the African Union’s (AU) institutional reform, and the concept note and roadmap for AU’s 2024 theme on education.
