Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, expressed, on July 4 in Rabat, the Kingdom’s support and solidarity with Palestine during this “delicate and critical phase,” reiterating Morocco’s appeal to the international community and global powers to intervene to stop the aggression inflicted on Palestinians and their territory.
During a joint press briefing with his Omani counterpart, Badr bin Hamad Bin Hamood Albusaidi, held following the works of the sixth session of the Morocco-Oman Joint Commission, Bourita emphasized that Morocco strongly condemns and rejects Israel’s numerous aggressions against Jenin.
The Moroccan official noted that these attacks on Palestinian territories hinder the establishment of a favorable environment for dialogue and peace in the region.
Bourita added that the Kingdom regards the situation as “very critical,” as it threatens all remaining hope for peace in the Middle East and fuels extremism and violence in the region.
The Moroccan Foreign minister also stressed the central importance of the Palestinian cause, asserting that peace will only be achieved in the Middle East through a fair and definitive solution to this issue.
In this regard, Bourita recalled the international consensus on a two-state solution, with the State of Israel and the independent State of Palestine within the June 1967 borders, with East al-Quds as its capital.
For his part, the Omani Foreign minister stressed that the Middle East region could not achieve lasting stability and development without a peaceful, just, and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian cause.
Albusaidi also emphasized to the international community and influential states the importance of respecting international law to recover the legitimate rights of Palestinians under the United Nations (UN) Security Council (SC) resolutions and the Arab peace initiative.
