The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, affirmed on April 18 in Rabat, that the African identity is deeply anchored in Morocco’s political choices, under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
Intervening at the opening of the North Africa Regional Ministerial Conference, organized by Morocco and Togo under the theme “Pan-Africanism and Migration”, Bourita shed light on the Kingdom’s proactive African policy which covers various areas of cooperation, including the adoption in 2013 of a new migration policy, which has enabled the regularization of tens of thousands of migrants, a true illustration of Morocco’s “Afro-optimism”.
In the same context, the official affirmed that the Kingdom’s migration policy is based on a participatory approach that respects human rights, complies with international law, and promotes international cooperation and shared responsibility.
Co-chaired by Bourita and his Togolese counterpart, Robert Dussey, the North Africa Regional Ministerial Conference, organized in virtual format, is being held as part of the preparatory process for the 9th Pan-African Congress which will take place from October 29 to November 2 in Lomé, under the theme “Renewal of Pan-Africanism and the Role of Africa in the Form of Multilateral Institutions: Mobilizing Resources and Reinventing Ourselves to Act.”
Morocco’s organization of this Conference reflects the Kingdom’s pioneering role in matters relating to migration, in accordance with the enlightened vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah assist Him.
