The First President of the Court of Cassation, President-Delegate of the Supreme Council of the Judicial Power, Mohamed Abdennabaoui, and the President of the Beninese Supreme Court, Victor Dassi Adossou, held talks, Wednesday in Rabat, on ways to strengthen cooperation and exchange expertise in the judicial field between Morocco and Benin.
In a statement to the press, Adossou said that these talks focused on the evaluation of the twinning agreement signed on July 23, 2009, between the two courts, as well as the examination of new areas of partnership aimed at strengthening legal and judicial cooperation between the two countries.
Adossou also noted that Morocco and Benin have been contributing to South-South cooperation for years, stressing that his visit to Morocco is an opportunity for the judges of the Moroccan Court of Cassation and its Beninese counterpart to exchange expertise in the field of jurisprudence and daily judicial practices, with a view to “exchange expertise to ensure judges’ participation in the creation of the rule of law and democracy in the two countries.”
For his part, the Vice President of the Court of Cassation, Mohamed Namiri, said that this meeting aims to strengthen the close ties between Moroccan and Beninese judicial institutions, adding that the provisions of the twinning agreement signed between the two courts should be implemented by amending some of its articles to revitalize it.
This meeting took place on the sidelines of the forum organized by the Moroccan Court of Cassation in partnership with the Association of High Courts of Appeal in Countries Sharing the Use of French (AHJUCAF), between March 16 and 17, under the theme “History of the Supreme Courts”.
