Under the High Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Supreme Leader and Chief of General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR), the final planning meeting of the “African Lion 2023” Exercise was held at the South Zone Headquarters in Agadir between April 12 and 16.
The General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) reported in a statement that during this meeting, officials of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) and the Armed Forces of the US addressed the finalization of the execution modalities of the different activities planned within the framework of the 19th edition of the “African Lion” Exercise.
This year’s edition will see the participation of almost 6000 soldiers from 20 countries, including Morocco and the US, as well as 27 observer countries.
The joint operations and maneuvers, conducted by the Royal Armed Forces and partner countries in several operational, land, airborne, and maritime areas, in addition to CBRN (chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear) decontamination, are mainly aimed at developing interoperability and strengthening intervention capabilities in a multinational framework.
Scheduled to take place between May 22 and June 16, in Agadir, Tan-Tan, Mehbes, Tiznit, Kenitra, Benguerir and Tifnit, the “African Lion 2023” Exercise is a major event that contributes to strengthening Moroccan-American military cooperation and reinforcing exchanges between the armed forces of different countries in order to promote security and stability in the region.
