The Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, Leila Benali, held talks on January 29 in Rabat with the Austrian Minister of Labor and Economy, Martin Kocher, on ways to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the field of energy transition.
This meeting aims to further strengthen relations between Morocco and Austria which, driven by the desire of both parties to consolidate bilateral cooperation, in line with the historical bond uniting the two countries and the particular interest of HM King Mohammed VI and the Austrian President, Alexander Van Der Bellen.
On this occasion, Minister Benali stated that this meeting constitutes an opportunity to discuss partnership projects between the two countries, particularly in the areas of energy transition, sustainable development, renewable energies, and green hydrogen, noting that both parties intend to explore new ways to maintain a fruitful cooperation and attract more investments in promising sectors.
For his part, the Austrian Minister shed light on the “long-standing” relations uniting Morocco and Austria which have further intensified with numerous visits from both parties during the last two years, expressing his country’s willingness to consolidate these relations, through the exchange of expertise and the promotion of investment in areas of common interest.
Kocher further affirmed Morocco’s potential in the production of solar and wind energy, adding that Austria attaches particular importance to renewable energies, which constitutes a great opportunity for the exchange of expertise in this field.
On the sidelines of this working visit, the Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development is organizing a meeting for the benefit of the Austrian delegation to present the progress and prospects of Morocco’s energy sector and discuss the main areas of cooperation, in the presence of senior officials from the ministry, Morocco’s Agency for Sustainable Energy (MASEN), the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE), the Moroccan Agency for Energy Efficiency (AMEE), the Research Institute for Solar Energy and New Energies (IRESEN) and the Energy Engineering Company (SIE).
