The Vice-President of Burkina Faso’s Transitional Legislative Assembly, Daouda Diallo, reiterated on November 7 in Rabat his country’s support for Morocco’s territorial integrity, affirming that “the Moroccanity of the Sahara is undeniable”.
In a statement to the press following his talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, Diallo emphasized Burkina Faso’s “unwavering and constant position in support of the Moroccanity of the Sahara”.
The Burkinabe official stressed that the Moroccan Autonomy Plan, presented by Morocco in 2007, remains “the best solution” for achieving a definitive settlement to the dispute over the Moroccan Sahara.
Diallo also commended His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s proposal to launch an international initiative to promote access to the Atlantic Ocean for Sahelian states, which was announced in His Majesty’s speech on the occasion of the 48th anniversary of the Green March.
In a statement to the press, Diallo stated that “the Royal Speech is a testament to His Majesty the King’s interest in the concerns of landlocked countries.”
“His Majesty the King has decided to help us, and the timing of this decision is perfect,” stated Diallo, adding that his country is currently struggling to overcome difficulties and urgently needs access to ports in order to export its products and boost development.
The Burkinabe official also praised the excellent relations between Morocco and Burkina Faso, further commending the rapid development the Kingdom is undergoing, under the Enlightened Leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
