The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation, and Burkinabè Abroad, Karamoko Jean Marie Traoré, commended the African Atlantic Initiative launched by His Majesty King Mohammed VI for the benefit of the Sahel States.
In a statement to the press following a meeting, on May 4 in Banjul, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, Traoré praised this Royal Initiative which allows the Sahel countries to have access to the Atlantic.
On a similar note, the head of Burkinabe diplomacy expressed his country’s willingness to be part of this Royal Initiative, which is perfectly aligned with the integration policies implemented at the level of West Africa, but also within the Alliance of Sahel States (AES).
During this meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the 15th session of the Islamic Summit Conference, in the presence of the Ambassador, Director General of the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI), Mohamed Methqal, the two parties also examined ways to strengthen bilateral relations and discussed several subjects of common interest including the situation in the sub-region.
