The British Minister of State for the Middle East, North Africa, South Asia, and the United Nations (UN), Lord Tariq Ahmad of Wimbledon, affirmed that both the United Kingdom and Morocco agree that a two-state solution is key to achieving peace in the Middle East.
In a press briefing on November 8 in Rabat following his meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon stressed that his country and Morocco are convinced that the ultimate goal must be a two-state solution, with a Palestinian state coexisting side by side with an Israeli state.
The British official affirmed that the United Kingdom and Morocco “will work together toward this goal” with their key partners, notably the United States and the Gulf states, adding that “these are difficult times, but we must never lose hope”.
Lord Ahmad shed light on “the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza”, pointing out that Morocco and the United Kingdom would be working together to find a solution to this situation.
The British minister also noted that the ties uniting the United Kingdom and Morocco “are stronger than ever”, pointing out that they “are founded not only on mutual trust”, but also on the two Kingdoms’ status.
