Executive Director of the American Sephardic Federation (ASF), Jason Guberman, stated that thanks to the Leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Morocco is becoming a model of coexistence and diversity and a stronghold against fanaticism and violent extremism.
On the occasion of the Parliamentary Conference on Interfaith Dialogue, held in Marrakech between June 13 and 15, under the High Patronage of His Majesty the King, Guberman stressed that the Moroccan model, which is rooted in a centuries-old history and cultural heritage, reflects a close-knit country imbued with moderation, justice, and pluralism.
Guberman also noted that the Moroccan approach advocates peace and prosperity, emphasizing that the initiatives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, in support of fraternity, coexistence, cohesion, and cooperation are an example to follow in a world plagued by divisions and inaction.
In a similar context, the Executive Director of the American Sephardic Federation (ASF) described the message the Sovereign addressed to participants in the Marrakech conference on interfaith dialogue as a source of inspiration, adding that his institution commends the major actions undertaken under the Royal Leadership in support of coexistence and peace.
“Indeed, for centuries, Muslims, Jews, and Christians have lived in coexistence on this land, and still coexist as the land of Morocco welcomed and protected thousands of people, Muslims, and Jews, who fled religious persecution in the Iberian Peninsula during the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries,” concluded Guberman, quoting this passage from the message of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
Organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) with the Moroccan Parliament, in partnership with “Religions for Peace” and with the support of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) and the Mohammedia League of Ulema, this conference was attended by parliamentarians, religious leaders, and representatives of civil society, who engaged in constructive dialogue and exchanged knowledge in an attempt to resolve the main problems preventing sustainable coexistence.
This international conference, held under the theme “Interfaith Dialogue: Working Together for Our Common Future,” reflects the critical and diverse roles played by the national parliament, which draws its inspiration from the Kingdom’s thousand-year-old history, rich in landmark episodes and strong examples of religious tolerance and coexistence.
