The Council of Arab League (AL) at the level of foreign ministers underlined, Sunday in Cairo, the role of al-Quds Committee, chaired by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, and Bayt Mal al-Quds Asharif Agency in preserving the legal status and identity of al-Quds and supporting its inhabitants.
The Council stressed the importance of protecting al-Aqsa Mosque in its entirety as a place of worship for Muslims, per international law and resolutions of international legitimacy, condemning all violations committed by Israel, the occupation force, in Islamic and Christian holy sites, especially Israel’s attempts to change the historical and legal status of al-Aqsa Mosque by infringing on the freedom of prayer of Muslims, expelling them from the Mosque and undermining its foundations by excavations underneath.
The Council urged the international community and human rights organizations to pressure Israel, the occupying force, to free all prisoners and detainees, especially former detainees, patients, children, the elderly, members of parliament, administrative detainees, and the bodies of martyrs, to end its occupation of the Palestinian lands within the borders of June 4, 1967, with East al-Quds as Palestine’s capital, and to end its illegal policies and practices against Palestinians, including annexation, settlements, apartheid, forced displacement, arbitrary arrest, confiscation of property, demolition of homes and infrastructure, and violation of sacred principles.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, represented Morocco at the emergency meeting of the Council of Arab League (AL) at the foreign ministers level. The meeting also discussed developments in the occupied Palestinian territories, Syria’s readmittance to the Arab League (AL), and the situation in Sudan.
