The President of the National Electricity Regulatory Authority (ANRE), Abdellatif Bardach, was elected head of the French-speaking Network of Energy Regulators (RegulaE.Fr) following the latter’s General Meeting on November 22 in Rabat.
According to a press release by the National Electricity Regulatory Authority (ANRE), the presidency torch was handed over to Bardach by his predecessor, Simon Turmel, Regulator of the Régie du Québec, in a solemn ceremony.
“I am honored to be able to pursue and build on the efforts of my predecessors while bringing new perspectives and ambitious initiatives to the challenges of our time and the issues of our profession,” stated Bardach on this occasion, adding that “there is no better way to pay tribute to my counterparts other than to focus on taking action”.
The Moroccan official rejoiced in being able to carry the voice of the Kingdom and “serve my country by assuming these new functions”.
“The consolidation of concrete achievements in the field of renewable energies will be prioritized, particularly through the effective implementation of energy interconnections,” concluded the official.
Recalling that Bardach is also President of the Association of Mediterranean Energy Regulators (MEDREG), the press release stated that this recognition is the fruit of the Kingdom’s reputation among international organizations and associations.
The press release also added that this election is “an acknowledgment of Morocco’s tireless efforts in the fields of electric power and renewable energies, in line with the Vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI”.
This new investiture coincided with the ANRE’s hosting of the RegulaE.Fr Workshop and General Assembly in Rabat (November 21-22) in partnership with the European Commission (EC), with the participation of 160 officials from 21 countries, led by the presidents of the regulatory authorities of African member countries.
The central theme of this international event was “Energy Interconnections and Regulation for Cohesive Regional Integration”.
