Moroccan critic Mustapha Rajouan won the 18th edition of Al-Babtain Prize for Poetic Creativity in the category of the Best Book of Poetic Criticism for his book “Poetics And the Harmony of Discourse: The Linguistics of the Text and the Poetics of Jan Cohen.”
Poet Abdulaziz Saud Al-Babtain announced, Sunday, the winners of the Foundation of Abdulaziz Saud Al-Babtain awards in poetry and its criticism, in its six categories, namely the Best Book of Poetic Criticism Award, Best Collection of Poems Award, Best Poem Award, Best Collection of Poems for Youth Award, Best Poem for Youth Award, in addition to an honorary Award for Poetic Creativity.
Both Moroccan critic Mustapha Rajouan, for his book “Poetics And the Harmony of Discourse: The Linguistics of the Text and the Poetics of Jan Cohen,” and Egyptian critic Ahmed Darwish, for his book “The Reception of Poetry” were awarded in the category of Best Book of Poetic Criticism.
Sudanese poet Rawda Al-Hajj won the award for Best Collection of Poems, while Jordanian poet Abdullah Amine Abu Chamis was awarded for Best Poem.
As for the Youth category, the award for the Best Collection of Poems went to Palestinian poet Alaa Al-Qatrawi, while Yemeni poet Zaher Habib won the Best Poem.
The honorary award of this edition was awarded to Saudi poet Abdelaziz Khoja. This honorary award is based on a special mechanism overseen by the head of the Foundation, the poet Abdulaziz Saud Al-Babtain, and is not decided by the jury.
This edition attracted a large number of participants from several Arab countries, recording over 800 applicants in the different categories of the Foundation of Abdulaziz Saud Al-Babtain prize for Poetic Creativity.
