Chief Policy and Political Affairs Officer of the American Jewish Committee (AJC), Jason F. Isaacson, who is on a working visit to Morocco at the head of a delegation of the Committee, commended, Wednesday in Rabat, the role of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, in the protection of religious minorities in Morocco.
“We salute the role of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, as Commander of the Faithful, for His protection of minorities in Morocco and His constant adherence to the principles that have shaped Morocco since the Kingdom’s existence,” stated Isaacson following his meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita.
Isaacson also noted that “the role of His Majesty the King, Commander of the Faithful, in protecting religious freedom in Morocco and the Jewish community has been an integral part of the history of this Kingdom for centuries, and is widely recognized in the US and by Jewish people around the world as well as by Morocco’s friends in Israel.”
The American official further praised Morocco’s development under the Leadership of His Majesty the King, particularly in “the social, political, and security fields.”
On the relations between Morocco and the US, Isaacson affirmed that “the American Jewish Committee (AJC) supports relations between Morocco and the US,” further expressing his satisfaction with the development of these relations in several fields.
In a similar context, the American official affirmed that the American Jewish Committee (AJC) “is very pleased with the new links that have developed over the last two years with the re-establishment of relations between Morocco and Israel, a country with which Morocco shares natural and familial bonds and common strategic objectives.”Isaacson further added that Morocco’s partnership with the US in countering terrorism was also addressed during the American delegation’s meeting with Bourita, as was “Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara, which is an issue that the American Jewish Committee (AJC) has always been firmly supporting.”
