Moroccan Achraf Elaidi snatched gold in the kayak (K1) 1000 m sprint event, part of the 9th African Canoe-Kayak Sprint Championships at Lake Jabu in the Nigerian capital Abuja (November 21-27).
Thanks to this achievement, the Moroccan kayaker qualified for the next Olympic Games in Paris in 2024, joining his compatriot Mathis Soudi (Slalom/Kayak), who won the bronze medal at the world championships, held in London last September.
It should be recalled that Mathis Soudi (23) achieved his first major international win by snatching bronze in the men’s race at the 2023 ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships on September 23.
