Moroccan Aya El Aouni won the W15/18A tennis tournament in Antalya, Turkey, on May 12, after the withdrawal of her opponent, Russian Valeriya Yushchenko, while El Aouni was leading the game (6-2, 2-0).
Positioned in 788th place in the WTA (Women’s Tennis Association) rankings, El Aouni snatched a victory over her Kazakh counterpart Sandugash Kenzhibayeva in straight sets (6-3, 6-0) in the semi-final, while Yushchenko qualified at the expense of Slovenian Anika Jaskova (6-4, 6-4).
This is the second consecutive title for the 18-year-old Moroccan player in the Antalya Series of the ITF (International Tennis Federation), since defeating the same Yushchenko in the W15/17A Antalya Tournament’s final by two sets to 1.
