Per the High Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, may Allah assist Him, Mohammed VI Foundation for African Ulema will proceed, in collaboration with the competent Ivorian authorities, to the official inauguration of Mohammed VI Mosque of Abidjan during the Friday Prayer of Ramadan 26, 1445, corresponding to April 5.
The Friday sermon will be delivered by the representative of Morocco’s Higher Council of Ulema, in the presence of several Moroccan and Ivorian officials and religious personalities.
A religious evening in commemoration of Laylat Al Qadr will also take place at Mohammed VI Mosque of Abidjan on the day of its inauguration, with the participation of Moroccan and Ivorian Ulema and Morchidines.
Testifying to the High Vision of His Majesty the King, and reflecting the Sovereign’s particular commitment to the protection of religious constants, Mohammed VI Mosque of Abidjan will be dedicated to disseminating wisdom, teaching the Holy Quran, and performing prayers, in addition to promoting the noble values of Islam, such as peace, tolerance and dialogue.
Construction work on Mohammed VI Mosque in Abidjan was launched on March 3, 2017, by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, accompanied by His Excellency Alassane Dramane Ouattara, President of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire.
The Mosque covers an area of 25,000 m2 and includes a prayer hall with a capacity of 7,000 worshipers, as well as a conference room, a library, a commercial complex, green spaces, an administrative pavilion, accommodation for the imam, and parking.
