The Council of the League of Arab States, meeting on March 6 at the ministerial level, hailed the “African Atlantic Initiative”, launched by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah assist Him, with the aim of consolidating the links of cooperation and integration between African countries.
This royal initiative also aims to facilitate the Sahel countries’ access to the Atlantic, in accordance with Morocco’s active solidarity with brotherly African countries, in general, and those of the Sahel region, in particular.
The Council also commended Morocco’s recent reception of more than 20,000 African students to pursue their studies in various Moroccan institutes and universities.
In the same context, the Council shed light on the role of Mohammed VI Foundation for African Ulemas and Mohammed VI Institute for the Training of Imams, Mourchidines, and Mourchidates, while congratulating the Kingdom for hosting the headquarters of the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) Programme Office for Counter-Terrorism and Training in Africa.
Morocco was represented at this meeting by a delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, including Morocco’s Ambassador to Egypt, and Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States, Mohamed Ait Ouali.
